The echo for Sharepoint remote agents are used by the 2007 version to grab content from 2003 environments.
Download from echo for Sharepoint 2007 - Remote agent for SharePoint 2003 To do this you need to: ON THE SHAREPOINT 2003 Environment (remote) 1. Download the remote echo agent for SharePoint 2003. 2. On your SharePoint 2003 environment, create a new IIS virtual Directory. 3. Set it to a new PORT number (SHOULD BE not be used by any other virtual directory). 4. DO not allow anonymous access. 5. Use the same application pool (Configurable ID) as you SharePoint 2003 web application. 6. Install the remote agent in that port on your SharePoint 2003. ON THE SHAREPOINT 2007 environment (local) 1. Start echo 2. Go to the Options > Remote locations dialog 3. Configure the remote source. Provide the URL (SharePoint 2003 Web application), web service port (remote echo port), Machine Name (SharePoint 2003 or IP), Domain Name and credentials (same as the application pool of remote echo). 4. Click the Test button to ensure the connection can be established. You can now pull content from the remote 2003 environment. You can use it to create sites, load content or list items from your SharePoint 2003 web application. NOTE: IF SQL SERVER IS ON A DIFFERENT MACHINE THAN SHAREPOINT SERVER 2003, THEN VIRTUAL DIRECTORY IN IIS OF REMOTE ECHO SHOULD USE ONLY BASIC AUTHENTICATION. This message has been edited.
